Bescond Electric Trio feat. Emmanuel Bex et François Laizeau
Gilbert BESCOND took up the guitar as a self-taught musician at the age of 27. He soon began performing his own compositions in a quartet. He was spotted by André Francis, “Mr Jazz de France-Inter“, who described him as a promising guitarist and composer.
In 1990, he co-founded the quartet “K-mie et les Garçons” with singer Camille Kerdellant. This marked the start of a long period of concerts throughout France, after representing Brittany in the national competition organized by Radio France at the Festival “Jazz sous les pommiers” in Coutances, and being the winning group representing Brittany at the “Franco-Follies” in La Rochelle.
In 1997, after numerous quintet concerts, he recorded the album “Les terres invisibles” with Daniel Mille. The album received a Sélection FIP review by Julien Delli-fiori, the Jazzmag disc of the month in November 98, a three-star review in Jazzman, and other glowing reviews in the regional and specialist press (Accordéon Magazine, Guitare & Basse, etc.). This was followed by a series of concerts in Lannion, Valenciennes, Rennes, Tours, etc…
In 2001, he formed “Bescond-Bex-Laizeau“, with whom he performs his own compositions.
In parallel, from 2007 onwards, he worked in collaboration with L’Orchestre de Bretagne on the writing of two symphonic tales to be performed at the “Triangle” in Rennes in March 2008.
In the same year, he premiered “A suite for string quintet with double bass” at the Carré Magique in Lannion.
In 2011 he wrote and recorded the music for Vincent Drouin‘s film “Le visiteur“.
Since May 2019, he has been the guitarist with the “Blow West Tentet“, which has performed at the “Fest Jazz de Châteauneuf du Faou“, “Jazz in Rosko“, the 20th anniversary of the “Aprèm Jazz de Quimper“, the “Pont-l’Abbé” festival and “Les plages Magnétiques” at the Salle Vauban in Brest. The “Blow West Tentet” continues to tour following the release of two albums of original compositions in 2021 and 2023.
